Learning and Development (L&D) is a continuous process at all levels in CTBC Bank. Each one of our employees has an L&D plan that covers three competency areas - functional, technical and behavioural to ensure holistic development. These training plans are based on staff performance appraisals. Structured training is then consolidated and provided throughout the year. Multiple methodologies like external training's and internal training are followed as a part of the training strategy to continuously upgrade and develop employee skills. Training plans for every employee are reviewed periodically with group heads and line managers to ensure that key training needs are being met as far as possible.
Some training initiatives we currently offer are as follows:
- 1. Integrated development program and program is designed to equip new recruits with the knowledge and skills that will help them grow within the organization. Conducted in partnership with external experts, the program includes intensive training in Basic Banking, Credit & Marketing, Accounting, Effective Communication at the Workplace, and Excellence in Customer Service, Team Building etc.
- 2. Supervisory Development: Bank also provides training to its staff for supervisory roles in different fields. Aimed at enhancing a supervisor’s performance and in developing the required skills, this initiative consists of training in critical supervisory skills like people management, performance management, presentation and communication skills and change management.
- 3. . Executive Training: This training program is for development of staff with previous banking experience. Based on the needs of the individual and the needs of the job, both internal and external training is provided, in affiliation with industry experts.
CTBC Bank Co., Ltd believes in continuous development of employees based on an objective methodology. To this end, the bank is currently getting engaged in a project on creating a competency framework for the Bank. This framework will outline the core competencies needed for successful job performance across roles in the Bank. This framework will then form the basis of various HR activities like hiring and development.
We have also increased focus on development by creating Individual Development Plan (IDP) for key staff. This Plan aim at setting the foundation of career development for staff and include career path and growth plan for the coming years, that is consolidated by the manager and employee. The IDP also includes a detailed review of employee abilities, strengths, expertise, knowledge and development needs. Employee communication and feedback is a critical input to development and to this effect, regular employee satisfaction surveys are conducted and feedback is given to senior management. Following this, action areas are identified and focus groups are created to work on these areas. Each group brainstorms and implements ideas that can be implemented in the action area assigned to them.
